AMOUNT OF RAIN IN TAKAPAU AREA

Heavy rain began to fall on the Takapau Plains shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, one and a~ quarter inches being registered in one and a-half hours. In four hours 2.30 inches was registered. and 1.63 inches had fallen the day before, making a reeord of 5.18 inches for this month to date. Last year the total' for the whole of January was 4.75 inches.
