COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
A very happy twenty-first birthday party was given by Mr and Mrs J. Johnson, of Napier, for their daughter, Eleanor, when about 30 guests spent a pleasant evening with many new games and interesting competitions. Mr J. Thorp made a capable M.C. During an interval in the evening a very tempting supper was enjoyed by , the guests. The tables looked very gay with pretty serviettes and jnulticoloured balloons overhead. Mr Thorp proposed the toast of the guest of thS evening and Mr A. Whitton proposed that of Mr and Mrs Johnson. All the young people joined in einging "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows." The large birthday cake, iced in pink and white and with candles in many shades, was much admired. A very jolly evening was brought to a close with the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." Mrs J. Johnson wore a model gown of • blaek floral silk marocain, the reunded yoke being finished with. smart red buttons, and the sleeves eut long and full. The guest-of-honour wore pale powder-blue charmelaine with square neckline caught at each side with a clasp of brilliants, and the new pleated cape sleeves. The guests present were: — Mrs Syder, Misses R. Dixon, L. Fountain, G. Dixon, M. Moir, L. Dunn, C. Steven, S. Pascoe, M. Syder, M. Gribble, N. Haigh, M. Rotson, M. Leadbetter, E. Moir, D. Ramsay, R. Campbell. Messrs J. Johnson, J. Thorp, J. Saint, J. Mnrtagh, D. ard B. Inglis, C. Fountain, T. Manson, R. Raythorne, A. Wood, A. Horsefield, S. Balcer, A. MacLean, A. Graham, Alex Whitton.
