"FLYING DOCTOR"
Awarded 500 Dollars in Libel Action AIR DASH TO CHINA SINGAPORE, Jan. 15. Tbe "Elying Doctor," Dr. Penton, claiming 4500 dollars, was awarded 500 dollars libel damages against tbe "Straits Times" as a sequel to a newspaper report of bis air dasb from Australia to Obina to tbe bedside of bis siek motber. Tbe neWspaper alleged tbat Fenton was piloting a plane "wbicb was tbe property of the Commonwealtb Government and wbicb be was forbidden to use by tbe Commonwealtb Government. Dr. Fenton, wbo is tbe Nortbern Territory doctor, claimed tbat tbis implied theft, wbereas tbe machine was bis own propLerty. All tbe Commonwealtb did was to insist on installation of an additional tank wbicb be bad no timo to arrange. He also bad no time to arrange for permits to fly over otber countries.
