Mr Harold Samuel

The death has oocurred of Mr. Harold Samuel, the pianist and composer, reports a London cable. Mr, Samuel was born in 1879. He studied at the Royal College of Music under Dannreuther, Stanford and others. He mad© his debut as a pianist ab St. Janies's Hall in 1894, and later uppeared at all the principal London concerb halls wilh leading orchestras and under leading conductors throughout the British Isles. He associated himselt' largely with the performance of Bach's pianoforte WQrks, giving six separate weeks of recitals of his mUsic in London, an unprecedented effort. He had made tours in the United States and On the Continent. Mr. Samuel composed the music for a cdmic opera, short operettas, incidental inUsio for plays ,'and many songs, an well as instruniRntal works.
