REGENT THEATRE
"THE MAN WHO COtfLD WORK MIRAOLBS" The British production, "The Man Who Could Work Miraeles" will be today 's change at' the Regent Theatre. It is an adaptation of H. G. Wells's famous story, and the featured plavers are Roland Young, Joan Gardner and Ralph Richardson. In its imaginative character the picture is a true successor to the mighty "Things to Come," but it is in a much lighter vein. Eor all its humour and buffoonery, however, it provides considerable thought and slyly castigates the leaders of every branch of society through the reaetions of the central character. George McWhirter Potheringay finds that at his commend he can make the lamp in the publie bar of the local inn move about whenever and wherever he wishes it, and finds himself ejected for carrying wishes into effeet. He discovers he can produce rabbits and kittens and bunches of grapes from the air and can send the village polieeman to "Blazes", to San Franeisco, in fact any place in the world. And he is mightily startled at his power, but no. more so than the inhabitants of the village in which he lives. Those who cculd better their position in life seek to advise him, those who might be affected by his power seek to destroy fiim. After a long period of indeeision he resolves to shun all aid, defy all opposition, anad set his course of action according to his own desires and for the betterment of the world.
