Mr C. J. Jarvis
The death occurred in the Wellington Hospital recently of a former WfSknown Napier resident, Mr Charles John Jarvis, a brother of Messrs W. J. and J. T. Jarvis, of Greenmeadows. Up to eight years ago, when he removed to Petone, the deceased had resided in Napier practically all his life, having arrived'from England with his parents in the ship Hudson 64 years ago. The late Mr Jarvis was for many years in the employ of the N'orth British Freezing Company at Port Ahuriri, and was also at one time associated with the old Napier Bus Coinpany. Latbr he was Secretary for several workers' unions, in which capacity he earned the goodwill and, esteem of workers and employers alike. He was also, for some years, secretary for the Labour Day Sports. He was a man of steiiing characted and the news of his passing will be learned with very great regret by many old residents of Napier, and much sympathy will be extended to his bereaved wife and family of five daughters and four sons. The remains were interred in the Tai Tai Cemetery, Lower Ilutt,, the pallbearers being three sons and three brothers of the deceased genlleman.
