In the amateur golf championship features of the quarter finals yesterday were the defeat of the veteran- W. Dobson by the 17-year-old Allan Waterson i up, and the downfall of Kearne, who was beaten by I. Harrison 3 and 2. Ilattersley accounted for Lee-Brown 3 and 2, and Fawcett was hard pressed to beat G. Grandemange 1 up. BRITISH AMATEUR. TITLE. TOLLEY IX THIRD ROUND. LONDON, June 20. C. Tolley, who is attempting to win his third amateur golf championship, lias entered the third round. The other winners include Wethored, Dunlop, Somerville and J. McLean, the'Scottish favourite. The losers include Woollam and the English champion Hannay. A men’s team from the Opunake Golf fil'ub visited Te Ngutu, yesterday and had >a( very enjoyable match, with the local men the latter winning by a margin of two matches: Mr J. Leaver expressed thanks on behalf of the visitors for the hospitable reception. Mr J. E. Meiuili replied, assuring the Opumake Chib members that lie Ngutu layers- were always glad to iseo tlram on the links. Results were as follow.
