NEXT MONDAY’S CLOTHES DRIVE.

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —With the cold days of winter hard upon us, many descrying men, women, and especially children-, are found to be inadequately clad, and I desire to appeal to a sympathetic public for gifts of clothing of any description, hoots and shoes to meet an urgent need. These, unfortunately, are not the only wants and old linen, new or- old flannel, vaseline, iodine, boracic lint, and cotton wool for use in cases of sickness or accident are needed too. Vegetables, jam and even books are also much desired. Members of the Hawera Rotarv and Savage Clubs, assisted by hoys of the High School, have kindly offered to make a house collection on Monday morning next, commencing at 7.15 a.m., and however small and whatever their nature all gifts .will he gratefully received. Donors are requested to place parcels in a conspicuous place near the front gate or on the verandah on Sunday night or early Monday morning. No article of clothing is “too far gone” to be of use to someone, if only for patching. To the groat joy of giving will be added the knowledge that-some family in distress will benefit. This appeal is for all necessitous cases —not necessarily unemployed. Representatives of the Citizens’ Relief Committee, Red Cross and St. Vincent de Paul Societies. and the Ministers’ Association will co-operate in the distribution of the greatest good for the greatest number. However small the gift. it will indicate the practical svmpathv of a generous public. " Thanking you for this publicity and through it Your assistance.—l am, etc., M. CAMPBELL, Mayoress. Hawera, June 19, 1933.
