SYDNEY, June 19. Tho major prizes in the New South Wales State lottery to-day were drawn by Mr Neil McArthur,' Wellington, New Zealand, who is reported to be inquiring into the lottery systems or Australia on behalf of the New Zealand Government. According to Mr Whiddon, director of the State lottery, the New Zealand Parliament next session will bo asked to approve of legislation for the conduct of Government lotteries in the Dominion. . „ It is estimated that upwards of 90fX> applications for New South Males lottery tickets reach Sydney from New Zealand weekly.

OFFICIAL INVESTIGATION DENIED.

The statement in the Sydney cable that Mr McArthur was inquiring into lottery systems in Australia on belialt of the New Zealand Government was given an emphatic denial in official circles to-night. Any inquiry Mr McArthur was making was being made purely in a private capacity, it was .said The visit to Australia had no official standing so far as the New Zealand Government was concerned.
