(From .Our Own Correspondent.) COMING-OF-AGE PARTY On Wednesday night Mr and Mrs W. VYan, of Ih-aia Road, gave a delightful evening in St. Patrick's Hall to. celebrate the oonimg-ci-age of their .daughter. Dorothy. Ahou.tr 120 guests- were present and included relations of the Wan family, as follow: Air and Mrs •Bonirke atnd family, of Patea Airs Horton (Hawera), and Airs Chadwick (Hawera). , . After a handsome birthday cake (made and icod by Airs A. Lambic) had been out by the guest of honour, her health was toasted and she- was accorded" musical honours. Air T. H. Sinclair, in proposing the toast, spoke, of. the Pist-ee-in in which Miss Wtui and her parents were held. He wished her every happiness and prosperity in' the future. Air Wan replied on behalf of his daughter and then presented her with a gold key. ' , Air Ren O’Brien, on behalf of those present, thanked Air and Airs Wan for the most enjoyable evening that all had spent. ' During the evening a song was rendered by Airs D. Thomas and a tap dance by Miss G. Bay 1 is. The winners in a word building competition were Miras P. ißourke and Air S. Sinclair. A statue waltz was won by Air McGuiness and Aliss J. Allan. A dainty supper was dispensed with by the hostess.' At the conclusion of the evening the guests joined in singing Amid Lang Syne. HOCKEY. Playing at the domain on Wednesday the ,ladries’ hockey team suffered 1 defeat it the hands of Otakeho ladies by five goals to three. THIRD GR ADE FOOTBALL ' The Olpumike Rirthy thirds met and detfaaUcd Rahotu thirds at Rahotu. on Wednesday. Tries for Opunake were s ewed L-y Coffee and Tito. Air J. Trottor was referee.
