Mr W. P. Okey, secretary of the Taranaki Agricultural Society, lias been appointed president of the North Island A. and P. Society Secretaries’ Conference. Mr Leslie Partridge, bacteriologist and chemist at the Apia hospital, died in Samoa on June 3, the Press Association reports. Mr Partridge was 3b years of age. At his funeral, whicii 'was largely attended, a firing party fired three vollevs at the graveside, and the “Last Post” was sounded. Flight-Lieutenant H. B. Burrell, of the New Zealand Permanent Air Force staff at AYigram Aerodrome, has returned to Christchurch after a tour ot inspection of aircraft in the North Island He examined machines at Hawera New Plvmouth. Wanganui, Hastings, Dannerirke, Wellington and Masterton for the purpose of issuing the necessary certificates of airwoithiness.
