POWER RETICULATION
■ 9 SOUTH TARANAKI BOARD. INCREASES IN CONSUMPTION. A steady increase in the power ron sumption was reported by the engineer- -(Mr. T. R. -Overton) toothimonthly meeting, of the South Tamnaki Power Board at . Hawera last evening. Mr. J. B. Murdoch presided over a full attendance of'board"members. Mr. J. E. 'Campbell, the recently appointed Hawera borough representative on the board, attended hiy first meeting and was extended a welcome by the chairman. The engineer reported that unitgenerated in May totalled 74.560, will a maximum demand of 725 kw. Unit purchased from the Public Works Dc partment totalled 281,466, the maxi mum demand being 495 kw. The unil. generated and purchased totalled 356,026, at a system maximum demand of 1215, kw. Seventy-nine permits were issued for fill classes of work and 170 inspections were carried out. Inquiries had been attended to at Taiporohenui, Ohangai, Whakamara, Lower Ball Road and Manutahi. A group was being formed centring about the Meremere-Mokoia corner and another for Whakamara. Applications for milking motors were coming ir freely and the figures showed signs or greatly exceeding previous records. The visible revenue and expenditure showed a yield of 15.3 and the en gineer recommended that construction be authorised. The Manutahi extension was being held up pending the decision, of the trustees in properties concerned. On Ohangai Road, between Whareroa and Meremere Roads, tlm board had completed 315 chains o:l 11.000-volt and 45 chains of 400-vol line; on Meremere Road it complete!, 232 chains of 11,060-volt wiring, llic main loop between the Tawhiti substation and Mokoia was complete and alive. On Aliipaipa Road from, the corner of Sheet Road the board had extended seven chains of 11,000-volt and three chains of 400-volt line. Con trolling and isolating fuse switches had been erected at the Lower Manutahi. Taumfita., Whenuku, Hauroto and Nolan Roads. The temporary sub station at Jvakaramea supplying the Patea Borough Council had been dis ma if tied, some of the fittings having been used in the permanent sub-station erected in the Patea borough.
