• Mr John Feaver, Opunake, who has been visiting Auckland and Whangarei, returned to Opunake yesterday. Two members of the Legislative Council, the Hon. J. A. Hainan and the Hon. C. J. Carrington, completed thenseven year terms of appointment at midnight on Thursday. Both members ware called to tbe Council on June If, 1926. At the annual meeting of the Hawera Bowling Club last night a vote of condolence was accorded the relatives of the late Mr D. .Spiers and Mill. G. Gibson, respected members off the club for several years. The meet--1 i'ng stood in silence as a mark of ' esteem. At a meeting of the Tokaora branch of the Farmers’ Union last night votes of condolence were accorded Mr and Mrs V. Adlam and family and Mr and Mrs S. Ba-rkla and family in their recent bereavements. A vote of sympathy was accorded Mr H. J. Finlay in tlie serious illness of his wife. A settler for many years in Taranaki, Mrs Fannie M. Brock, died at Eltham yesterday. Mrs Brock, who was 74 years of age, was born in Tasmania, removing nearly half a century ago to New Zealand, to take up residence with her husband, Mr William Brock, at Christchurch. Twenty-five years ago Mr and Mrs Brock and family came to 'Taranaki and engaged in \farming at Te R-oti. Twenty years ago she retired to live at Eltham. She is” survived by four sons, Messrs C. Brock, Mangatoki, A. Brock, Ngatea, Darcy Brock, Oeo, and C. Brock, Hunter Road.
