The general inference is that an anti-cyclone still extends from the north of the Tasman Sea across southern New Zealand, but its intensity has decreased somewhat. A cyclone has apparently been moving southward from the Kermadees and is responsible for the continued southerly weather. The forecast is for moderate to strong south to south-east winds and the weather will probably be mainly fine and cold, but with some scattered light showers, mainly in high levels and some hard frosts. Seas will be rough.
