HAWERA WOMEN’S CLUB

A VISITOR FROM PERSIA

The committee of the Ha worn Wo men’s Club have a syllabus arranged for each month, and, in addition t< the usual meetings of the variouscircles an endeavour is made to securt an evening for ladies visiting the district from abroad. On Monday evening Mrs. A. A. Struthers, from Persia, who is staying with her brother, Mr. J. C. Barclay, ©f ~o'kaiawa, was the guest of honour at the club. She met the president (Mrs W. O’Callaghan) and a large number of members who were keen';; interested in hearing about Persia, where Mrs. Struthers has lived for some years. . During the evening songs were given by Mrs. H. S. Allwright and her sister. Mrs. Crump, of Wellington, and -by Miss Ethel Murdoch, and duet; ; by Mesdames Allwright and Crump. ■On Monday next there will be : concert by the music circle, when tin programme will be arranged by Mrs A M. Young. ’
