WALKER DEFEATS CLARK
END IN FOURTH ROUND
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. June 12
George Walker and Jack Clark met in a return wrestling match, which Walker won by two falls l to,one. Clark secured the first fall in the second round, pinning his opponent after lifting him and slamming him hard to the mat. Walker evened in the second round, with a fall gained by a reverse wriistlock and head scissors. The contest ended in the fourth round, Walker obtaining an easy fall after making his opponent groggy with a series of side headlock throws l .
Clark was labouring under a severe handicap. He had been treated by doctors this afternoon for blood poisoning in the main finger of his left hand, an urgent operation being imperative. Clark entered the ring with the finger heavily bandaged and deadened against pain. The band was swollen and be could make little use of it.
VARGA GETS DECISION.
PEREIR A MISSES TACKLE.
WELLINGTON, June 12
A flying tackle that missed spelt defeat, for the Portuguese wrestler A 1 Pereira. (15st lOlbl when he met the Hungarian Count Joseph Varga- (15stl before a full house in the Town Hall to-night. Early in the sixth round Pereira, charged with his head down and Varga stepped aside like a toreador. Pereira passed between the two top ropes at a corner, hardly making the strands auiver, and landed head- first on the floor among the row of seats. He was unable to enter the ring within the stipulated time and Varga was declared the winner. Varga had a fall to his credit in the third round and Pereira had evened in the fifth with a press.
