WELLINGTON, June 12

A passenger by the Makura from Sydney was Earl Beauchamp, Governor of New South Wales from 1599 to 1901, tvho was proceeding to Tahiti. Commenting on the economic position of Netv (South Wales Earl Beauchamp said he had spoken to some pusiness men in .Sydney and they were definitely of the opinion that, although it was very small, there was a movement in the- right- direction. Business people w r ere hopeful at present that, although the indications were slight, they were definite beginnings in the change for the better.
