EDUCATION BY TRAVEL.

C FRENCH VISITORS. SYDNEY, Dec. 11/‘Education by travel” is an ideal that has been, translated into reality diiring recent years. In the tours of the Young Australians and Boy Scouts we have seen benefit of broadened mind and widened outlook accrue to those members" of the rising generation fortunate enough to participate. Some of their most enjoyable experiences were obtained in France. With reciprocal hospitality, Sydney entertained during the week-end a small party of French students who are on a world tour organised .by the Lique Maritime-at Coloirisle and the Paris newspaper Le Journal. The tour Was initiated by means of travelling scholarships in order that the most brilliant students of French universities might l complete their education by seeing other countries.: Included in the party who are en route to Noumea, and will return to France Dy the Panama Canal, were licentiates of law, a doctor of philosophy, engineers", of whom one was a wireless specialist/ and a student of medicine. Their brief, day or so was fully occupied in felicitous; little functions, which the visitors seemed thoroughly to enjoy. Their stay was too short to permit of intensive study of our social or educational welfare, but it undoubtedly provided them with a vivid insight of Australian hospitality and friendship with France and her sons.
