Wheatley (formerly Minister of Health in the Labour Government), speaking at Glasgow, said'that lie was afraid, the Baldwin Government’s policy was making djrect for war against Russia. If any attempt were made to launch war against Russia lie would devote his life to , appealing to the British, workers not'only not to join in the fighting, but to utilise the opportunity to attack British capitalism. He warned -Labourites that the Free .Trade-Protection conflict was merely between the rival sections of capitalists, and was not one vitally affecting the workers. Labour wanted a higher standard of living for; the toilers.
