LEVEL CROSSING MENACE.
CRASH AT LEVIN. (BY TELEGRAPH —PPRBB ASSOCIATION. ’ '' . LEVIN, Dec. 22. The south-bound New Plymouth express, running late on Saturday afternoon, collided at a level - crossing at at the entrance to the Levin railway yard with a motor delivery van, owned by C. H.- Blartin, a. grocer) and driven by R. Anderson. The van was carried about 2t> feet and, thrown off the line on the opposite side, where two hoys were standing 1 on the footpath waiting for the trivin to pass. One, Wilfred Martin, was struck on the head by a portion of the van, sustaining a fractured skull and severe wounds. He was taken to the Palmerston Hospital Eo-day. The other, a Chroniple runner, Gordon Milroy, was rendered unconscious, but is now recovering. The driver escaped unhurt, but the van was badly knocked about.
