STAMPEDE IN CAFES

Meradoza, tiie capital 'of the province of that name, experienced severe earthquake shocks early in the night, inhabitants fleeing to the parks and; the suburbs. Glass doors and windows were shattered and many people were injured when crowds in the cafes stampeded. Simultaneous shocks, are recorded in the provinces of Tucuniah and Santuis. [Mendoza has a population of 50,000 and lies 600 miles north-west of Due nos Ayres. The city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1361.]
