OEO SCHOOL.

PR IZE-GIY[NG AND CONCERT. The close of the year’s work was celebrated at Oeo last night, when the presentation of prizes took place and the annual concert was held. The hall was packed to the doors with an enthusiastic audience, and Mr S. Millar, chairman of the School Committee, presided. An excellent programme of musical and elocutionary items was provided, part by the school pupils, who had been carefully trained by Miss Murphy, assistant teacher, and part by visiting artists from Hawera and other parts. It was all much enjoyed. The pupils’ items comprised songs and choruses, action songs and recitations. All were nicely given, reflecting the greatest credit on Miss Murphy for her painstaking work. She also played the accompaniments. The remainder of the programme consisted of songs by Miss Gomer, Mies Calder, Messrs Crime, Li Evans, Burrow’s, Lorreste, Lowe, Lane, and Goatham, duets by Mrs Weir and MiLane, Messrs Low’ and Lane, Miss and Mr Wills, piano solo by Miss Evans, piano duet by Mr and Mrs Weir, and fancy dance by Miss Rama. Mrs Bradley, Misses Evans (2), Miss Gomer and klrs Weir played the accompaniments in good taste. The prizes were then presented by Mr Miller, Mr K. Eraser calling out the names of the pupils. It was a good arrangement that each one was awarded a hook.

After a very nice supper, well laid out oii artistically decorated tables and served by a ladies? committee, the hall was cleared for dancing, and to the music of Mrs Bradley the company tripped the light fantastic until well after midnight. And so a very pleasant and interesting gathering terminated, everyone present having thoroughly enjoyed, the whole proceedings.
