BIG FIRE IN SYDNEY.
DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT £40,000. BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, Dec. 15. Fanned by a strong wind, a fire occurred late last night in the premises occupied by John Craven Burleigh, Ltd., and Messrs Denton and Spencer, at the rear of Dewar’s whisky warehouse, at the corner of Douglas street and Douglas lane. One of the most congested blocks in the city was menaced. Owing to the fumes from chemicals, the firemen had great difficulty in dealing with the outbreak. The damage is estimated to be £40,000.
