A few days ago Mr. H.. .Dennis, in the employ of the. Ha were County Council, who was working in the Mauawapou Gorge, had helped a ear in difficulties. f J he ear had run, into the mater-table and required assistance to get on to the road again. 23y some unaccountable means Mr. Dennis got his finger badly broken. It was not until the ear had left on its way that the injury was discovered. First aid was rendered by Dr. Young, who was also present. On going to' the hospital for further attendance it was found that the injury was of a much more serious nature, and necessitated the amputation of the finger. Mr Dennis, who unfortunately does not even know the party whom he‘assisted, is unfortunately faced with exbenses; Unemployment without compensation for a. few weeks at least as well as the loss of his linger.
