MELBOURNE, Nov. 27. : 'Rev. -Frank -Weir, who recently arrived at Ballarat from Port Elizabeth, South Africa;, to visit his; aged parents, underwent a fearful experience last liight, when., his mother, aged 80, wafi burnt to death, despite his efforts to rescue her.

A fire broke out in the house during the night, and when the ' alarm' was given Mr Weir rushed to his parents’ room and succeeded in rescuing .his father, aged 84, who was badly scorched, but he could , not get hack in time to save hie mother.' - I Her chai-red remains were- recovered; later from the debris.
