MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
WEEKLY SITTING. ;j\ The weekly sitting of the Hawera Magistrate’s Court was held to-day, Mr J. S. Barton, S.M., presiding. . For committing a breach, of his prohibition order, Taupaia Hori was fined £2, with 7s costs and 5s translation • fee. For failing to send her child to school during five days in October last, Ada Scott was fined 5s and 7s courtcosts. , A sentence of three weeks’ imprisonment for disobedience of a maintenance order was imposed on Frank Milham, a provision being made for his i'e-v lease on the payment of £lO on account) of arrears. A prohibition order >vas issued against Henry Kawana. A juvenile who in November, 1923, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence in 12 months’ time for having, stolen chocolates from the Park kiosk, came before the Magistrate. It was stated that the police report concerning the boy’s behaviour was favourable., and in view of this fact the boy was discharged. Norman Samuel Slight, who was charged with failing to register under the Defence Act, was fined 10s and 7s court costs. It was stated that the defendant lived in the non-effective area.
