SUICIDE.
POLICE IN A DIFFICULTY. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 26. At the Magistrate’s Court this morning John George Stewart, who was charged yvith arson at Papanui on November 2, did not appear. The police said that since the information was laid certain things had happened leading to the belief that accused may have taken his life. As accused had not appeared in response to the summons, the police would ask for a warrant for Stewart’s arrest. The application was granted, the Bench remarking that there was no direct evidence that accused had committed suicide.
