WANGANUI, Nov. 24. lne clean-up campaign amongst vendors -and manufacturers of foodstuffs m Wanganui has advanced a further. Last week a. dirty butcher was fined, and to-day tail ice-cream maker , was similarly treated. Inspector Fear, when dealing with W. D. Tflie wooden chum and receptacle were dirty and th© contents had been there two day®. The piece of tin used to dish out the cream would allow the vendor’s hands to come in contact with it. Rubbish was littered about and there was a receptacle in the yard where bottles had been washed, containing stinking matter. 1 In the shop, under the counter, was a small chum of ice-cream, also a quantity of papers, part of a loaf of very stale bread, dust on a plate with gieaise on it, also dust on a greasy spoon used to dish .out the ice-cream. A spring arrangement was also dirty •Under the counter were a number of cups in which ice-cream was sold. I'hese were loose amongst the general rubbish. The inspector commented strongly on the state of the premises, more particularly as children in hot weather dealt largely in ice-creams. The magistrate, Mr. Hewitt, after commenting specially on the selling conditions in the shop, inflicted a fine of £5.
