ASHBURTON TO CHRISTCHURCH. HEAVY ROADS. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATIONCHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 24. Seventy-four out of eighty-eight started in the cycle road race from Ashburton to Christchurch, but many were boys. The conditions were bad, as the roads were heavy and there was a strong head wind blowing. Eight of the men entered the show grounds together, and G. Hewarn (Ashburton). 15min., won in the final sprint; L. Hill (Christchurch), llmin.. 2; Liscli (Christchurch), llmin., 3. The fastest time was Dut. up bv Forrester (Christchurch), the scratch man, who came in twelfth, in 3hrs 3 9 min 6sec. The next was Flett (Wellington), scr., 3hrs 33min 9sec,' and third Harrison (Wellington), 3hrs 33 min lOsec. The winner’s riding time was 3hrs 43min 13see.
