On page one of this issue the Hawera County Electric Company announces that the company is now prepai ed to instal electric cookilig ranges. Hitherto the company has pot been* in the position to supply current for cooking purposes, but now that it is able to do so the requirements of those who wish to avail themselves of this method df cooking will be thoroughly catered for. Owing to the absence of a piano local musicians have experienced' considerable difficulty in giving entertainments at the Old Men’s Home, but with a view to providing an instrument a concert was held recently which resulted in the Hospital Board being handed a cheque for £33 3s. The board this morning passed a resolution thanking the promoters (Messrs R. P. Morrissey and J. Renwick) for the cheque, and also authorised the chairman to purchase the niano. The secretary (Mr C.
