THE CONCLUDING DAY

SOME FINE RACING

TRACK IN GOOD ORDER

By Telegraph.—Star’s Special Reporter. CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 15. J he weather was beautifully fine for the concluding day at Riccarton, and there was again a large attendance, and the track was in good order. Hungry Hi 11, and Giant-killer were the favourite picks for the Suburban Handicap in a good betting race.. Wha--1 1. was first out from Prosperity, Hiero, Empyrean, Otauru and Happy \V ai jior. Giantkiller and Viewpoint moved up at the- turn, and Whariti was beaten at the distance, where Giantkiller and Prosperity came away, Giantkiller defeating prosperity by a neck, Whariti was two lengths awav third a head in front of Otauru, with Happy V arrior and Hiero next. This was. Giant-killer’s second success at the meeting, and lie defeated his field rather decisively. Hungry Hill, the second favourite, is yet very green, and was not sighted. Prosperity stayed out the nine furlongs surprisingly well Moorland, Ilka and The Harp were the favourites in the Cressy Welter,' and they finished in the places. It was a good betting race. Ilka, Gardenia, Fmora, Tempe and The Harp were the early leaders, with Moorland and Halgina in the van. The last two moved up at the turn, where Gardenia and lempe retired. Ilka lasted long enough to defeat Moorland bv half a head with The Harp a length away third! Halgina was a good fourth, with linoia, Rich Prize and Ecuador nextHka just lasted long enough, while Moorland, who does not usually race well when ridden in behind, came fast in the last furlong. Halgina might nave won had he been better placed in the eaily stages, as lie did not get- such a good run as Moorland. Degage, Dazzling light and Hallmark were the best hacked in the Seymour Handicap. Degage and Knocklvn were first out, but the order of the leaders racing round to the turn was En Route, Tvnocklvn, Degage Escarpment and Solfcllo, \vith Dazzlim- Light moving up. Degage came a wav” at the distance, with Hallmark in pursuit, and in the run to the post Degago defeated Hallmark by a length and a half En--1 out-? was a length away third with Cum brae. Knocklvn and' Comic Sonnext. lhe winner scored liandsomeh” ls , n . fWy. Hallmark finished well, but Dazzling Light was done at Hie end if six furlongs. Escarpment broke a leg about a furlong from tho pos-f. ;uicl was dosti’oyetf. The Members’ Hlaiidicap was a -rent betting race, Suggestion and Fools’ Paradise both being hacked with spirit. There was also plenty of support for Rod Wink. Last Crust and tho bracket, Wild Hind and Firestick. When the field settled down the order was Mireusonta. Red Wink Sugg.st.ion. Martian Miss and Fools’ J arachse. with Wild Hind and Firestock last. Mireusonta was done at

the turn, whe:e Suggestion and Red AYiiik came away with. Fool’s Paradise making a run. Suggestion won by a length and a Half from Red AVinlw.th Fools’ Paradise a length awav third. AY lid Hind, Firestick and Mireusonta- were next, Sucro-estion r*» w*,» B«» s| o»- «. tod iS legs, but be won well. Red AA 7inlrrm anotlmr of bis solid races, while Fools Paradise, but lor being a little unluc-ky m the running, would have been closer up at the finish Father O’Flynii and Victory Bond monopolised the betting in the Pioneer Handca.p, but Money Order* received all the best- of the start and put up such a big break that he was never daught winning by fourteen leno-ths from A ictory Bond. The latter, with Ai pent and Father O’Flynn raced to getlier behind the leader, being divid'ed at the winning post by a'leimtb Centrepiece swerved right across "the course at the start. " ' Gold Light was at odds on for the Stead Gold Cup, with Inferno, Limelight, Loughrea and Sunart backed in that order. Gold Light and Inferno, Loughear -and Limelight and Sunart was he order for a mile, and Loughrea then came tlirougV and (Sunart closed up and Gold Light went awav at- the distance and won c-asily bv two lengths from Sunart. who defeated Loughrea and Limelight and Sunart was a length away fourth and Limehght last. Gold Light again won without being extended by Sunart, and impressed race-goers bv his dash i at hnJ ; sh ’ for had' too much brilliancy for Loughrea, and Inferno failed to stay and Limelight was outclassed.

Royal Blood was an almost two to one on favourite, for the Electric and Shirley failed to jump out ■smartly and Rloyal Blood bowled along in triio load all i>lio way and won casily by two lengths from Tukiia-, ■ who was a length and a half in front of Shirley. Tt was only a procession. The Fendalton, Handicap was a great betting race, but R.ua-paipa, was alwlays a hot favourite and Tarleton was next in request, hut not a greatdeal better hackee} than Enthusiasm, with, Royal Divorce, fourth favourite Deucalion, the winner, was at a double figure price. The order of the leaders to the turn was Tanadees, R.uapapa, Rivalry, Royal Dvorce and Happy AA'arriqr, with Tarleton well hade. Enthusiasm had become prominent at the turn, and at the distance Enthusiasm, Tanadees, .Rivalry and Ruapapa were leading, with Deucalion and Royal Divorce handy and Tarleton .showing up. Deucalion won by a head from Royal Divorce, with Rivalry .a. head away third. Tarleton was a head away fourth and R'uapapa and Bonneter well up next. It was a. great race to wind up the meeting, both Royal Divorce and Tarleton being unlucky in the running. The winner was at -a false price considering liis good foiin at the meeting, and Ruapapa was backed with the utmost confidence, hut he failed to see out the journey. THAMES RACES.
