This has been a great surprise to the public generally, w ho assumed that when grants were made the recipients got the money. The Daily Telegraph’s Parliamentary correspondent quotes Sir William Robertson as saying that he withheld formal consent to his grant, with the result that he lost five months’ interest ®ii RIO,OOO.
