LONDON, Nov. 14. hollowing on the Bradford conferee 0 on September 9, a conference, attended by members of the ivool industry and Dominion producers, was opened in London this morning to discuss the suggested new- size of packs, designed to greatly reduce expenses. The Agent-General for Australia presided. Australia, South Africa and New Zealand were officially represented. Mr. Aykroyd, chairman of the Bradford Chamber, submitted that a pack df oOCflbs as compared with the present pack of 3001bs would permit of lower cost of handling. A committee, comprising five representatives of the trade and six .producers, was • arranged to consider the proposal . Mr Aykroyd expressed the opinion that the neiv pack would result in a saving of £800,00f). He fidded jocularly that. it was worth while, tb reimburse a feiv growers the cost of a nefv press. Replying to a suggestion to reduce the size to dimensions at present used, Mr. Aykroyd declared that the trade h!ad tried all sizes and 5()0 lbs was the only .practical prdpdsitddh when considering shipping and railway freights. Another tradeitb pointed out that the freight for 6000 miles from Buenos Ayres* w®& blily i farthing a lb compared Avith Ifd for 12,000 miles from Australia.
