LIBEL SUIT.

DAMAGES AGAINST TRUTH. (by TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION • WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. In a suit foir libel, Montecino versus the newspaper Truth, the jury found in favour of plaintiff and awarded £2OO damages. Witnesses were called by the plaintiff in rebuttal of the evidence given that he had slept at the piano-playing tests. His Honor said the statement had been made that .Montecino had been in gaol for assaulting a one-armed man. The only defence was that the statements were true. If the words were true no damages could be given.
