BRANCH FORMED AT PATEA
The last of the series of. meeting® arranged to be held by the executive of the South Taranaki Association, in furtherance of the campaign for linking up all plants of the district, was ii£ld <L~t PcLt-GEL. L&s'b night. Th,© result of a good meeting was the formation of a branch. There was a good attendance, and Mr. Christensen was voted to the chair. He read apologies from Dr. Simmons and Mr. Fraser. After Messrs. Cox, O’Callaghan and Walkley had given short addresses pointing out the value of the association, the advantages to be gained by motorists and the need for combination and co-operation, the chairman urged members to form themselves into a branch, and heartily thanked Hawera members for their enthusiasm and interest shown' by coming down to organise the meeting. He then formally moved that a branch of the association be formed Mr. H/aanel seconded, and the motion was carried unanimously. Officers were then elected as follow: President, Dr. Simmons; viqe-presi-dents, Messrs. Christensen and C-. Honeyfield; executive. Messrs. Glenny, Hamel, Waterland, Gilbert, Rook and Ramsbottom'; secretary, Mr. W. F. Sheild. The annual subscription was fixed at one guinea. \ A good number of members were enrolled, and arrangements made, far a personal canvass. . Hearty votes of thanks to the Hawera executive and to the chair concluded the meeting.
