OUR PIONEER SETTLERS.
On pages 18 and 17 of to-day’s issue will bo found narratives of the experiences of several of the early settlers in this district. It is the intention ot the Star to continue placing similar records before its readers. Those previously published we know were appreciated, and these given to-day will, we are certain, meet with no less cordial reception. We wish to emphasise our desire to have tion in tliis work. There are quite a number in South Taranaki whose careers should he placed on' record, and if members of their families or personal friends would help us, not only ourselves but the whole community would he grateful. We feel keenly on this matter, as during the present year two men whose reminiscences we hoped to obtain have passed away and much valuable information and entertaining narratives have been lost to our readers. There is great advantage to be gained by an unhurried preparation of these articles, and we shall be glad if those interested in a continuance of our policy of preserving for this aud other generations the life stories of the pioneer settlers will communicate with us.
