Judgment has now been given against a motor driver for a breach of the Whakatane County Council’s new bylaw, restricting luggage from overhanging a car’s running board more than, four inches on either side when crossing bridges. Defendant pleaded that the by-law was unreasonable, but the Magistrate held that it was reasonable, after hearing argument by oounsel showing the danger to other motorists through protruding luggage. Defendant yae fined 10s and costs."
