ATHLETICS.
ELECTRIC LIGHT CARNIVAL. Electric light carnivals and sports meetings will before very long become a recognised form of entertainment in towns of any pretensions. The management state that they have bad several applications for information from other towns. It will be the aim cf the Hawera Club to keep in the leading position, and by putting on et tractive and varied programmes it is hoped to secure liberal public patronage which will enable the club to keep up v.ith the times. Next Wedensday night the Showgrounds will bear a carnival appearance. and' a specially selected athletic concert, orchestral and horseinmping programme will be presented. The full programme will appear in Saturday’s Star.
