ROAST OSTRICH FOR DINNER.
BROUGHT FROM AUSTRALIA IN A BLOCK OF ICE. LONDON, Sept. 11. A roast ostrich about three feet long and weighing 301bs was among the dishes served at a dinner party given by some Australians at the Trocadero. The ostrich, was sent from Australia in a block of ice and was cooked, on a ■spit before an open hearth under the chef’s directions. It was described on the menu as “Autruche roti en broche,” and was served with a French ealad and potatoes cooked in slices in the form of a cake. “It tasted like goose,” said one of the guests.
