ELECTRIC LIGHT CARNIVAL.
AT SHOWGROUNDS. Encouraged by the success which attended the carnival held on show night last year., the Amateur Athletic Club and Egmont A. and P. Association have decided to hold another carnival next Wednesday night (first show day). In addition to a varied. athletic pro-; gramme, (which will be supported by Wanganui and New Plymouth clubs) ' there will be a specially selected concert and orchestral programme, and as • an additional attraction a horse-jump-ing contest will be held. We believe this will be the v first time in New Zealand that a horse-jumping contest has been held by aid of electric lighting. The grounds' will be brilliantly illuminated, and the side shows, which com- v prise a circus, buck-jumping, merry-go-round, and numerous others will provide extra attractions. It only requires favourable weather for the carnival to prove the biggest entertainment of its kind ever held in Hawera.
