AUCKLAND WEEKLY NEWS.

CHRISTMAS NUMBER, A great reputation has been made by the proprietors of the Auckland Weekly in the production of their paper, and especially in that of the Christmas number, in the computation of which they always have reached a very high standard in journalistic effort, and also a standard of illustration work which is a distinct credit to all concerned in the publication. This year’s number is fully up toi the best the proprietors have yet produced. It reproduces much of the best of New Zealand’s lavish richness in scenery and beauties of nature. The illustrations include a very line frontispiece and eight full-page studies. The cover design is typical of Maori life, a charming Maori "maiden. The coloured supplement shows “Christmas at the .Great Barrier,” giving a d idea of one of the many attractive- pleasure resorts of the Dominion. The many remaining illustrations demonstrate New Zealand’s natural beauty and scenery in all its varied aspects. In the very excellent series of letterpress articles, two original, stories. “Morning Glory,” by Hilda Keane' and “The Summer House,” by Edith Rc.wes, stand out as of special interest. There is, in addition, a host of informative and interesting matter on a wide variety of subjects.
