HEAVY ROAD-HOGS.
ALLOWED ON HIGHWAYS. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. WANGANUI, Nov. 3. An interesting case was heard in the Magistrate’s Court to-day, the police proceeding under the Moto; Regulations Act against the deputysuperintendent of the fire brigade for driving the fire motor at a speed dangerous to the public. The motor at the time was not proceeding to a fire/ but to loaete a break in a water main. Witness stated that the motor was travelling at 50 miles an hour at one point of the journey. Mr. Slipper, for the defence, contended that a motor under the Act was a vehicle not exceeding three tons in weight/ whereas the fire engine weighed over five tons' Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., upheld the point raised by the defence and dismissed the case.
