LUCERNE TOR PIGS. 3 | !rl3 A USEFUL TYPE OF FEEDING RACK. The use of lucerne in the feeding of pigs is becoming increasingly popular, and the results registered are abundantly justifying the procedure. In most cases the swine are turned on to the growing fodder, but in others the practice is to cut the produce and to place it before the animals in various sorts of racks. One such, of a type much favoured by American hog raisers, is shown above.

B—Suspensory ligament of neck. *C—Spinal cord extending from the "base of the skull to base of tail. D—Full extent of left lung. E—Kidney. F—-Rumen or first - stomaeh. G —-Uterus or womb. H—Bladder. I —Rectum or terminal portion of large intestine. L —Omentum, or thin membrane, covering all the internal organs except liver and bladder. M—Diaphragm, cut near ribs. N—Heart. o—Windpipe or trachea leading to lungs. P—Gullet leading to atpipaeh.
