“ANGELS ORDERED ME.”
TRIED TO CUT HIS THROAT. PESTERED BY SPIRITS. “I tried to cut my throat,” said Wiluam Simmonds, when charged at the Groulbourn Police Court with attempting to commit suicide, “but I made a very poor job of\ it. 'The angels have been coming down from - Heaven and ordering me to cut my throat, and a niaii followed me from Pictou in the train and told me to do it. ‘The 'spirits have been pestering me and following me about,” added Simmonds, who is an elderly man, -*“so I thought I’d do it. I’ll make a -better job of it next time.” Sergeant Noble said Simmonds was arrested in Auburn Street?' He had a -razpr, and blood was gushing from his uiroat. Simmonds has sent to the Kenmore Reception House for eight days for observation.
