THEATRICAL EMPLOYEES.

POSITION OF PICTURE THEATRES (BY TELEGRAPH—-PREB9 ASSOCIATIONWELLINGTON. Oct. 29. The application of the New' Zealand Federated Theatrical and Stage / Employees’ Industrial Association for a new award came before the Conciliation Council to-day. The proposed award is to cover the Wellington, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland districts. Regarding hours some discussion took place. Eventually an agreement was reached with little or no-alteration in the provisions of the standing award. Mr.-E. J. Righton, on behalf of picture theatres, entered a strong protest against the method of citing various picture theatres'in New; Zealand, There were 336 of these and only five had been cited. Something was radically wrong if they could make awards to bring parties under the award later. The question of wages will be considered to-morrow.
