DAIRY SUPPLIES
IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS. SEVERAL LIMITATIONS. MEASURE CHANGED. (By Telegraph—Special to Star.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 28. Extensive amendments have been made in the Dairy Industry Bill by the Agricultural Stock Committee of the House, to which it was referred. After, a close debate the committee has deleted the clause validating such supply agreements as . would otherwise be invalid as in restraint of trade. It has also eliminated the proposed extension of co-operative companies’ provisions as to herd testing associations. Clause 2 validating the allotment of shares is amended so as not to applj to a supplier who within six months after allotment had served notice of objection, and within sis months had ceased to supply the company concerned. Failure to give notice of objection will stop suppliers from denying the validity of allotment. The validation of the articles of association regarding the objection of shareholders to be suppliers is confined by the committee to the existing articles of association, the following ' new sub-clause being added : “Provided also that nothing in this sub-section shall be construed to authorise the inclusion, after the passing of this Act, of provisions in any articles of association purporting to oblige the •hareholders of any company to supply milk, cream, or other dairy produce to the company and all articles of association to which this sub-section applies (being articles made before the passing of this Act) shall, on.expiration of six months after the passing Of this Act, cease to have any force or effect, save so far as they may be valid and effective, irrespective of the Drovisions of this subsection.”,
