SOUTH ISLAND MAIN TRUNK. ITS COMPLETION STRESSED. (by TELEGRAPH —PRESS- ASSOCIATION. BLENHEIM, Oct. 23. The commissioners who are to report on the New Zealand railway system (Sir Sani lay and Sir Vincent Raven) arrived from Wellington to-day, accompanied by Mr. W. J. Girling, M.P., McVilly (general manager of railways), Mr. F. W. Furkei't (en-gmeer-m-ehief of the Public Works Department) and the heads of the various railway branches, the party, with secretaries and officials, numbering seventeen. Mr. Girling introduced a deputation from the Marlborough Progress League, who shortly represented the league’s case for the completion of the South Island Main Trunk railway (Picton to Bluff).
