EMILY THE “BILKER.”
TASTE OF ‘-HIGH LIFE.” LONDON, Oct, 4. Twenty-four ‘-bilked” taxi-cab drivers attended Scotland Yard for the purpose of identifying - a woman “bilker.” Thirteen of them identified Emily Watson, 25, a general servant, who pleaded guilty to four charges, and was sentenced - to six months’ imprisonment. The evidence showed that she not only evaded payment of the fare, but borrowed money from victimised taxidrivers. pretending that she had left her purse at the hotel. She would enter a shop, ostensibly for a purchase, and disappear through a side door.
