HAWERA GOLF CLUB.
ANNUAL TEAMS’ MATCH. INTERESTING EVENT. An event which is always looked forward to by the members of the Men’s Club is the annual teams’ match. Patron’s v. President’s. This year it was played on Saturday afternoon, no less than 22 pairs participating, and this in spite of the very adverse and unpleasant, weather conditions. The course, however, was in excellent order and the greens were capital. After a contest in which much good play was shown the Patron’s team scored the award by a margin of three matches —ten wins and seven losses. No less than five matches were squared. Results were as follow, Patron’s mentioned first: L. Quin heat O’Callaghan, Dale lost to J. Quin, H. Tonks lost to Beechey, Eliott heat Sutton, Bayley beat Cox, Ryan beat Little, Turner and Fletcher all square, Suisted lost to Hay Mackenzie, Page lost to a Glasson, Syme beat Goi-ton, Moss lost to Judd, Ritchie and Douglas all square Jobson lost to N. Caolen, S. C. Tonks and Ferguson all square, Duffill and Bright ail square, Jo]l beat Matthews, Foyster lost to Williams, Meyrick and \ innicombe all square, Sullivan beat Hooker, Hall beat Bramwell, Blair beat Shear* Reid beat Callaghan. THE DINNER. At the Egmont Hotel after the match the losers entertained the win-' ners to an excellent snread put on by Mine Host T. Jones, Mr S. C. Tonks presiding, and to this all did ample lustice. Doug,F^ c ‘ h «; aild J - Q^n; The Press,” Mr A. E. Gorton-Mr Page. The function was well organised, and was altogether a great success in every way. Everyone* in both teams thoroughly enjoyed the annual event which increases in popularity each year. ■ * •
