THE MARRIAGE BILL.
NEW SOUTH WALES MEASURE. APPEAL TO ELECTORS SUGGESTED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 9, 11.50 a.m. SYDNEY, Oct. 9. No decisions were reached at the Coalition Party’s meeting to discuss the Ne Temere Bill. The consensus of opinion was that the Government should appeal to the electors at the next State general election on the issue and ask for a mandate. A large section favoured appointments to the Council, a short session next year and the reintroduction of the Bill. It was pointed out at the meeting that the Bill could be reintroduced into the Council at the stage where it was rejected by resolution. There was, it was contended, a precedent for such procedure. Cabinet will consider this proposal at the next meeting.
